As part of our ongoing commitment to providing quality education to children in need, Westbow Gives Back is thrilled to announce the launch of our Digital Education Project. Through this project, we are providing brand-new computer equipment and English lessons to students in two schools in Guatemala, including Las Vistas, which is part of the AMG Guatemala network of schools.
Our partnership with AMG Guatemala goes back many years, and we are excited to be working with them on this pilot program for digital education. We believe that this program will have a significant impact on the lives of the students involved, and we are grateful for your continued support in making it possible.
Las Vistas is a school located outside of Guatemala City and was built in the aftermath of Hurricane Mitch. The school serves students from the age of 3 to grade 6, and its enrollment is around 400 students. It’s situated in a “red zone,” which means it’s an area prone to gang violence and other forms of crime.
Transportation is difficult and dangerous for students in the area, which is why many of them end up dropping out of school. However, AMG Guatemala is doing incredible work in the area to provide quality education to children in need, and we’re proud to be working with them to expand their efforts through our Digital Education Project.
Thanks to your support, we were able to provide around 180 students at Las Vistas with brand-new computer equipment, including chromebooks, headphones, and other complementary equipment. We also set up the school with high-speed internet, which is essential for the success of the program.
The students in the pilot program have already started taking English lessons as part of the language development focus. We believe that these lessons will have a profound impact on their lives, as it will allow them to become fluent in English and receive world-class high-quality education through our program. We believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty, and we are thrilled to be providing this opportunity to children in need.
